MFGS - Fall Concert Schedule

Dear Friends of MFGS

We are hoping that you are having a great summer even if it is in its waning days. We have quite an interesting fall schedule hosting great fingerstyle musicians at different venues in the Southeast Michigan area.

We want to support some of these new venues as well as or good friends at Trinity House Theatre and we you'll come out and support these musicians and these venues who are committed to bringing you this great music.

***************Save These Dates!*****************

Saturday - October 8th -  Calum Graham
PLAT Theater - Pontiac Michigan
(Pontiac's Little Art Theater)
  Doors 7:30/Show 8 pm - tickets are $20
Due to limited seating the tickets will be available online at this time.

For starters, at age 23 Calum was named one of the top '30 guitarists under 30' in the world by Acoustic Guitar Magazine !

That's no small accolade!  But why stop there!  Calum is 24 now with a new CD out and he's back for what will be his 3rd sold out concert in the Detroit area (one in Windsor).  From his winning the Canadian International Guitar Festival in 2010 to his performances to his performing at the Olympics in Vancouver and London to a quote from one of the most famous fingerstylists on the planet

"He's the most promising young guitarists I've seen..........His command of the guitar is really impressive!"   Andy McKee

Don't believe Andy Mckee?   Watch this!

In case you are wondering what the PLAT Theater is, it is an emerging small venue space in downtown Pontiac.

just down the street from the multimillion dollar under-renovation Flagstar Strand Center for the Performing Arts and Slows BBQ Pontiac

Pino Forastiere

Saturday - October 29th -
First United Methodist Church in Ferndale

Tickets $20 - Online or at the door

Italian guitarist/composer Pino Forastiere is hard to pin down both in musical style and how often he performs in the US.
Like many other fingerstylists he cites the late American guitarist/composer Michael Hedges as an inspiration to him.  Unlike almost all the other fingerstylists we've ever hosted, Pino had completed studies in classical guitar at the most prestigious conservatory in Italy, Santa Cecelia Conservatory in Rome Italy and only 'discovered'  Hedges 5 or 6 years after Michael's untimely death.

Forastiere is always re-inventing himself and has gone from the contemporary tap, slap and touch pieces such as 'Wild Parking'  to his stirring composition of 'Studio 7'.

"Each composition is a unique journey of impeccable technique and melodic invention. Pino Forastiere is a scientist of the guitar, but a scientist with soul. John Diliberto, Echoes Radio

Pino Forastiere will be performin throughout Michigan Wisconsin and Ohio during his vist this fall.  Stay tuned for other opportunities to see him and or notify your friends
