Stefano Barone - Friday April 6th - Tickets available at the door.

Dear Friends of MFGS

The weather is slowly coming around to Spring so here is an opportunity to come out to hear some remarkably new  music originating from Neapolitan roots and an infallible sense of rhythm and the ability to improvise.

True to our non profit mission of supporting the art of Fingerstyle Guitar MFGS is proud to present Stefano Barone on Friday April 6th at Trinity House Theatre.

Barone has had over 5 million views on YouTube from his groundbreaking 2008 CD 'Particolare#Uno'.  Having embraced the American Minimalist sound along the lines of Philip Glass and Steve Reich Stefano's compositions have evolved following the pursuit of the artistic sound he is inspired to create.  His music is thematic and quite distinctive as it has been woven together with his remarkable technical ability along with his 6 and 10 string guitars and occasionally layers the sound with a cello bow on one or both of the instruments.

Stefano collaborated with Pino Forastiere and Sergio Altamura to form the Italian supergroup trio of Guitar Republic. In 2010 Free Press Videographer Brian Kaufman saw Guitar Republic perform for MFGS in Ferndale and something about the unique sound they created caught his ear.  Since then Kaufman has used their music as a trio and individually as solo artists for many of his films.

This year the Detroit Free Press Film Festival has invited Stefano to perform a short set before 2 of the films Kaufman has directed using the music from Stefano and the other artists of Guitar Republic http://freepfilmfestival.com/special-events/.

In addition to his performances at various venues Stefano Barone will be teaching a masterclass for guitar students at Interlochen Center For the Arts in Michigan & Peck School for the Arts in Milwaukee Wisconsin.

"Stefano's music is akin to great storytelling, eliciting a broad range of emotions and an even broader range of sounds from an instrument that often sounds nothing like a guitar. As a documentary filmmaker, I was immediately drawn to its power."           Emmy Award Winning Director – Brian Kaufman
