Tickets available for Ian Ethan Case -Saturday May 14th

  #

Dear Friends of MFGS

In fulfilling our non-profit mission of promoting fingerstyle guitar we bring in newer artists to this area as well as your favorite established artists.  On May 14th we are bringing in Ian Ethan Case to this area for the first time.  Ian has received rave reviews from wherever he has performed.

“Few musicians tackle the challenging double-neck guitar, and perhaps few have done it with the intellectual intensity and skill of Ian Ethan Case. Case’s inventive multi-layered compositions are like nothing you’ve heard before. His new album, Run Toward The Mountains, is both meditative and commanding.” — The Christian Science Monitor

Take a few minutes to consider coming out to see someone new, someone you've not seen before and someone making an impact in the world of music!  These performers get pennies on their online downloads and they really need your support to continue to produce such great music. Our friends at Candyrat Records www.candyrat.com have a few CDs to raffle off so c'mon out and you might just get lucky twice!  Once would be seeing Ian Ethan Case….twice would be taking home a free Candyrat CD!

Ian Ethan Case
Saturday May 14th @ Trinity House Theatre
$20 general admission and $17 for Trinty House Members
Doors at 7:30 and show at 8pm.  We will start a few minutes later to let folks who are coming from a distance to get there.

You can pre purchase tickets at www.fingerstyle.org or at the door.

10 Years ago we brought in a young guitarist with really long hair and mismatched sneakers.  Maybe 30 folks came out to see him in our old venue in Ferndale.   Here is an actual quote from our newsletter at the time!  " On Saturday, February 11th, 2006 at 7:30 pm the Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society presents one of today's finest young fingerstyle guitarists, Andy McKee.  Andy is hailed by many musicians in the acoustic world as the most promising fingerstyle guitarist to arrive on the scene in some time".  Now we cannot even book the guy!  Incidentally he is coming to town on Sunday June 19th and we will send more info in the next newsletter.

Regarding Ian's concert.  Please remember that there is some roadwork on 275 from 696 south to 5 mile road.  If coming from the northeast probably take the Southfield expressway to I-96 and go to I-275 and go north  to 6mile and Trinity House is just left turn off the xway.  If coming from the west then get off at Novi and drop down to  6 mile.  From the north you might just go west to Novi and drop down.  Here is a map.
