Pino Forastiere Concert & Workshop

On Saturday, February 2, 2008, Pino Forastiere will perform at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church which is located at 22331 Woodward Avenue in Ferndale 3 blocks south of 9 mile on West side of Woodward. Tickets are available at the door for $20, Seniors/Students $10 or can be purchased online at  Call the MFGS office for more information at 248-646-4030.

In addition on Sunday, February 3rd, Pino will be conducting a hands-on workshop from noon (sharp) – 2:00pm.  Space is limited, advanced reservation is required.   The Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society presents its workshop series in a non-competitive environment and welcomes guitarists of all skill levels.  Students can register or request information by contacting the MFGS office at 248-646-4030.  Cost is $40.

Born in Latronico, Italy, Pino moved with his family to Rome in his early childhood.  In 1992 he graduated from Santa Cecilia Conservatory with a degree in classical guitar, taking his final exam with a ten-string classical guitar.  In the following years, he used his ten-string guitar in live performances with original repertoire.  In 1996 he laid down his instrument and picked up a six-string acoustic guitar.  He has studied composition and chamber music, performed in various ensembles with classical or original repertoire, and collaborated with jazz experimental, electronic and pop projects.  He has also published the record “Overcrossing” (a duo with Luca Pagliani, Equipe, 1999), and two solo album; “Rag Tap Room” (S3L, 2003) and “Circolare” (Accordature Aperte, 2005)
